DC-Startup-Week-2017

For the next five days, DC Startup Week will celebrate, recognize and engage the entrepreneurs in America’s Capital City. Washington, DC has a vibrant startup community that features over seventy thousand startups and small businesses, 75 co-working spaces, 70-plus accelerators and eight hacker/maker spaces.

Connect. Cultivate. Celebrate. is the motto for DC Startup Week, and these three concepts will guide the sessions and the speaker slots. Attendees will have ample time to connect, and many evening activities will offer up a space to celebrate with colleagues old and new. They printed up a die cut sticker that features their event branding with the Startup Week globe with the skyline of the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial past the Washington Monument to the US Capitol Dome. The custom shape can travel and make a mark wherever it goes, leaving a lasting impression long past the event.

We’ve sponsored Techstars Startup Weeks for a number of years, and we made these communities a focus of our sponsorships. If you’re a community-run event with volunteers, we’ve made it part of our mission to support thriving entrepreneurial communities wherever they may exist. And the best way to do this is to bring them together in a way that they can connect, share and bond, and Startup Week and Startup Weekend (another Techstars production) provide education, networking and hands-on experiences where new ideas come to fruition.

There is daily programming with six tracks organized around functional roles within startups: designers, developers, founders, growth, events, makers and and product teams. Attendees will have a chance to learn from top experts in each field, and gain actionable insights that you can use to accelerate both your career and your company’s success.

The two groups behind this effort are Techstars and Beacon, and we thank them for setting up this event along with the many organizers who have put in many hours in advance of this week. To everyone in DC attending and participating have a great DC Startup Week!

The Techstars Foundation is a non-profit created to improve diversity in technology entrepreneurship by providing opportunities for underrepresented entrepreneurs through grants, scholarships, and sponsorships.

BEACON is a community-led initiative to make D.C. the most influential and supportive city in the nation for women entrepreneurs. With partners across the public and private sectors, BEACON seeks to amplify opportunities and connect women entrepreneurs to each other, and to the resources they need.
